Welcome to Ronde van Retaard 2010

On September 11th, 2010 the Ronde van Retaard will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden for the second time. The race is contested over approximately 100 kilometers of gravel roads on fixed gear or single speed bicycles, gears are not allowed. The Ronde is a celebration of the hard early days of bicycle racing. We start in a shower of rose petals and encounter along the way bands playing in a forest clearing, food and wine, fireworks and midgets.

The race starts 8.30 AM on september 11th at the Norsesund railway station just outside Gothenburg.

You are most welcome!
Komet Club Rouleur

Logistics

The train leaves from Central Station at 7:17. We will stand with the truck in the parking lot behind Nils Ericsson terminal from about 6:45. There you can leave the bikes for transport to the start of Norsesund. If someone were to miss the train 7:17 so we will wait for the train that goes 8:17 also but then they should make its own arrangements bicycle transportation. There are 6 official site for bikes on the train.

Important information

We will be riding on small and seldom used gravel roads but they are open to traffic and there will be encounters with cars and perhaps even horses. This means that you must ride carefully and with consideration for those you meet and your fellow riders. Be smart. All contestants participate at their own risk!

Registration

You register by paying the registration fee of 280 SEK or 28 EUR to Swedish PlusGiro 45 57 67-4 before September 1st. Mark the payment with Your Name and Ronde van Retaard. If you have trouble paying from abroad just contact us at retard@kometbicycles.se.

Rules

More than 100 kilometers on mostly gravel roads for fixed gear- or singlespeed bikes. Geared bikes will have their shifters taped single speed at the start. The race is split up into about 10 stages during the journey towards central Gothenburg. Between each stage the peloton will ride together and we will reassemble after each stage. The leader's jersey will be worn by the total leader after each stage. About half way there will be a lunchbreak with good food, good drinks and water. Cars will follow us during most parts of the race where you can put a small bag with clothes or whatever.

Finish / Award ceremony

The finish is in central Gothenburg around 7.00 PM. Afterwards there will be an award ceremony, dinner and party at Ocean Culture House at Stigbergstorget. Dinner is 100 SEK and K.N.O.G. will provide free beer!
